As we enter into the swing of summer, our editors at the Beacon have found the newest and hottest restaurants to check out. Whether you’re on the beach or hanging out by the peninsula, here is a collection of our top beach picks. 

  • Dory Deli 
    • Down at the Newport Pier, you can watch the people go by and listen to the waves while eating at this tasty sandwich shop. Stop by for coffee and take home salads too!
  • Balboa Lily’s Boardwalk 
    • On Balboa Pier’s boardwalk you’ll find this shop ready to accommodate any of your needs while at the beach. Offering a host of specialty lattes, sandwiches, snacks and drinks Balboa Lily’s is a great place to cool off and get some great food and drinks. 
  • Blue Bottle Coffee
    • Recently opened new Lido Isle, Blue Bottle Coffee offers a variety of specialty coffee and tea drinks, along with pastries and avocado toast. 
  • Bear Flag Fish
    • A popular location right next to the beach, Bear Flag offers a variety of freshly prepared fish and sushi.
  • Tower 48
    • Located right off of PCH is the sandwich shop Tower 48. Everything is made from scratch- from the breakfast burrito to the Turkey Bacon Croissant sandwich- ready to take to the beach.  
  • Sidecar doughnuts 
    • If you haven’t been to this classic doughnut establishment yet, Sidecar offers freshly made doughnuts and coffee- a perfect morning treat.
  • Poké Cafe
    • In the Landing by 32nd street, you’ll find the newest restaurant addition, Poké Cafe, with custom poké bowls and hand rolls made to order. 
  • Chihuahua Cerveza
    • Not in the mood for Poké? Right next door is a fantastic Mexican food joint serving up tacos, burritos and refreshing drinks. 
  • Zinqué
    • Tucked away in Lido Marina you can find this French eatery with coffee drinks, breakfast tartines and sandwiches. 
  • Malibu Farms
    • Also in Lido Marina, Malibu Farms has both a farm to table restaurant and a walk up ice cream and coffee bar. 
  • ARC Butcher and Baker
    • Tucked away on 30th Street lies this combo butchery and bakery selling freshly made pies and cookies along with a variety of prepared and raw meats. Also check out their sandwiches and to-go meals! 
  • Porrovita 
    • On the corner of 30th street and Newport Blvd is Porrovita, a great stop for juice and açaí bowls on your way to or from the beach. 
  • Wild Taco
    • Right on the Peninsula on the corner of 31st street, Wild Taco is a must eat for all things Mexican food. Tacos, Fajitas, Burritos, Chips & Guac, you name it. 
  • Mama D’s Italian Kitchen
    • Between 30th and 31st street, Mama D’s is your go to for gourmet yet family-style Italian Cuisine. And the starter bread is to die for!
