Every year, CSF hosts evening events for the Sailor Community to support the organization while also enjoying the sweet and savory flavors that local food trucks have to offer. Since Super Bowl Sunday is coming up, last night’s gathering had a gameday theme. CSF members decked out the tables with football printed tablecloths and encouraged guests to come in their finest jerseys. CSF members arrived before the event to help set up tables and decorations, including senior VP Jordan Golden. “Mrs. Ciok and Ms. Ngyuen run CSF, but they really want the students to take charge,” Golden explains. The organization also planned this event around the athletic schedule and the IB students’ evening TOK class, so more Sailors could come support and be a part of the fun.

The spirit was as delightful as the food! From gourmet pizza to Mexican cuisine, students and teachers had a difficult time deciding on which truck they wanted to try first. Senior CSF member, Kevin Castaneda enjoyed a combo meal from Baby’s Burgers while catching up with friends over dinner. “The Bombshell Burger was very tender and savory and overall, it was an enlightening experience,” he shares. The Phenomnom food truck was also a big hit with Sailors, serving up dishes like tasty three cheese macaroni and finger-licking good street tacos. “I thought [the tacos] were delicious, because the sauce wasn’t too sweet or too bitter,” says senior Ester Lopez. After Sailors finished their delicious dinners, they saved plenty of room for dessert and they were not disappointed! Drizzle, a food truck that made unique funnel cake and ice cream concoctions became a crowd favorite with its numerous flavors and topping choices. It also had coffees, teas, and strawberry lemonade that got Sailors coming back for refills. Senior CSF member, Stephanie Ramirez poses with her Crazy For Coco style funnel cake alongside senior Madison Gonzalez and her Funfetti combination in this photo-worthy moment. “Presentation is everything. This is a ten out of ten. It’s heaven,” explains Ramirez. Aside from the numerous meal options, students, teachers, and local families were also able to sit down and have conversations with one another over a nice dinner. While Mr. Hoist enjoyed sharing dishes with his friends, he also saw CSF food trucks as a beautiful way to interact with other Sailors. “It’s cool to sit down with friends and see students outside of the classroom,” he says.

Super Bowl CSF Food Trucks was a touchdown and don’t worry if you missed out on the excitement, because there will be two more of these events later in the school year!
